Jeonnam Fire Department to Conduct Physical Fitness Test for New Hires from 17th to 28th

At Yeongam Samho Comprehensive Culture and Sports Center... 6 Events Including Round-Trip Long-Distance Running

Jeonnam Fire Department to Conduct Physical Fitness Test for New Hires from 17th to 28th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 14th that it will conduct a physical fitness test for newly hired firefighters this year to strengthen on-site response capabilities and supplement the shortage of firefighting personnel.

The test will be held for 935 candidates who passed the written exam in each field, from the 17th to the 28th, over 9 days, at the Samho Comprehensive Culture and Sports Center in Yeongam-gun.

Due to COVID-19, the schedule has been adjusted to allow only 120 people per day, divided into 60 in the morning and 60 in the afternoon, and thorough quarantine management will be implemented before and after the test.

The physical fitness test consists of six events: grip strength, back strength, sit-and-reach, sit-ups, standing long jump, and shuttle run.

Participants must bring their admission ticket, ID card, sportswear, and sneakers on the test day and register by the designated time.

Each event is scored out of 10 points, with a total of 60 points. Candidates must score at least 50% (30 points) of the total to pass.

Among the candidates, 5% will undergo doping tests, and if abnormal results (positive) are found, the candidate’s passing status will be canceled.

In particular, to improve the accuracy of judgments by referees and measurers, each event will be video recorded. A video review team of four members will be assigned to prepare for any possible disputes over judgments.

A Jeonnam Fire Headquarters official said, “Since 15% of the final physical fitness test score is reflected in the final results, this is an important test that determines the final pass or fail,” and added, “We ask candidates to thoroughly manage their physical condition.”

Detailed information can be found on the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters website, and any other inquiries can be directed to the Fire Administration Division of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters.
