[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, is promoting a nameplate attachment project for 857 priority bereaved families this year to foster a social atmosphere of respect for national veterans ahead of the Month of Patriots and Veterans.
On the 14th, Mayor Heo Seong-gon visited the home of Kang Il-soon (74), the child of the late Kang Soon-cheol, who participated in the Korean War and passed away, to attach a "House of National Veterans" nameplate and express gratitude and respect for his dedication to the nation.
Mayor Heo said, "I consider it meaningful to attach nameplates with a heart of gratitude for the meritorious service of national veterans who sacrificed for the country," adding, "We will continue to pay attention so that national veterans and their families can have pride and lead honorable lives."
Meanwhile, the national veterans nameplate attachment project is an ongoing initiative from 2019 to 2022. In 2019, nameplates were attached to 1,291 households including bereaved families of independence patriots, disabled veterans, and Korean War veterans. In 2020, nameplates were attached to 1,377 households including Vietnam War veterans, recipients of military merit, recipients of national merit, and special mission veterans.
