Justice Party: "Apologize to Ryu Hojung, Moon Jungbok of the ruling party shouted 'Hey!'"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 14th, the Justice Party demanded an apology after Moon Jeong-bok, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, made inappropriate remarks such as "How dare you" to Justice Party lawmaker Ryu Ho-jeong during the plenary session of the National Assembly for the vote on Prime Minister nominee Kim Boo-kyum's appointment consent bill the previous day.

On the same day, spokesperson Oh Hyun-joo pointed out in a briefing at the National Assembly Communication Office, "It is understandable to have personal differences of opinion regarding the official procedural remarks made by the floor leader of a political party. However, it is highly inappropriate to personally approach and protest immediately after the remarks."

Spokesperson Oh emphasized, "In particular, during the exchange of words with lawmaker Ryu Ho-jeong, Moon Jeong-bok made the inappropriate remark 'How dare you.' Regardless of age or rank, as a lawmaker representing the people's will, a separate apology is necessary for the disrespectful attitude toward our party's lawmaker Ryu Ho-jeong."

He added, "It is true that not only lawmaker Ryu but also young lawmakers often find themselves in such situations," and stressed, "Change is needed."

Spokesperson Oh expressed hope that "this incident will serve as an opportunity" and emphasized, "Let the National Assembly take the lead in creating a culture of mutual respect."

According to the Justice Party, at the time, Moon Jeong-bok said, "No, you are the one," to which lawmaker Ryu responded, "You?" Moon then shouted, "Hey!" and said, "How dare you now! How dare you raise your voice!"

Kang Min-jin, leader of the Youth Justice Party, posted this content on Facebook.

Leader Kang criticized, "Moon's language was extremely rude."

She continued, "It is shocking that a fellow lawmaker from a minority opposition party was called 'Hey' and was pointed at first with such an arrogant attitude," and officially requested an apology from Moon Jeong-bok.
