Chonnam National University Embarks on Historical Exploration of 'May Gwangju' for the 41st Anniversary of May 18


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chonnam National University will embark on a historical exploration to commemorate the 41st anniversary of the May 18 Democratic Uprising.


Chonnam National University announced on the 14th that it will hold the "May Gwangju Historical Exploration" starting at 10 a.m. on the 17th and pay respects at the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery.


About ten internal and external organizations and groups will participate in this exploration, including President Jeong Seong-taek, the Council, the Alumni Association, Chonnam National University Hospital, the Democratic Fellowship, the Labor Union, the Teaching Assistant Council, the Student Council, and the May 18 Research Institute.


The exploration itinerary begins at the May 18 Democratization Movement Archives, then proceeds to Jeonil Building 245, Jeonil Maru, the National Asian Culture Complex Democratic Peace Exchange Center, followed by experiencing rice balls at the May Mothers' House, and visiting the Lee Inam Studio.


Participants will visit the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery to lay flowers and incense, and individually pay respects to 27 interred persons related to Chonnam National University.


They will also pay respects to five individuals interred in the Mangwol-dong old cemetery and console their spirits.
