Sandan Gong, Selected as Operating Agency for '2021 Industry-Specific Specialized Smart Factory Project'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (Chairman Kim Jeong-hwan, hereinafter referred to as KICO) announced on the 14th that it has been selected as the operating agency for the '2021 Industry-Specific Specialized Smart Factory Construction Support Project' and signed a business agreement with the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group.

The 2021 project focuses on the dissemination of smart factories specialized in materials, parts, and equipment, which are the main industries of the Incheon Namdong Smart Green Industrial Complex, and plans to expand to other regions and industries in the future. In particular, this year, the project promotes the construction of smart factory solutions applying advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud computing to improve product design and production processes. It also supports the necessary automation equipment, controllers, and sensors for construction, advances existing systems to enhance the utilization and dissemination level of smart factories, and supports additional construction and interconnection of smart factory facilities and related systems.

The Incheon Namdong National Industrial Complex, the target area of the project, is actively promoting Korean-style New Deal policy projects by the government and Incheon City, such as the creation of a smart green industrial complex and the large-scale remodeling of industrial complexes. It is expected to play an important role in accelerating the spread and advancement of smart factories among manufacturing companies through this project. Kim Jeong-hwan, Chairman of KICO, said, "Through support for the smart factory dissemination project in the materials, parts, and equipment industries of the Incheon Namdong Industrial Complex, we will actively create excellent cases and spare no effort to support Incheon manufacturing companies to play a pivotal role in the Korean economy in the post-COVID-19 era."
