[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 14th, the Hampyeong County Public Health Center in Jeollanam-do announced that it is encouraging residents aged 40 and over to participate in free hepatitis B and C virus screenings for hepatitis and liver cancer.
This project was established to identify chronic hepatitis carriers, induce regular check-ups and management, and extend the healthy lifespan and improve the quality of life of residents through early detection and treatment of liver cancer.
In particular, through early detection of high-risk groups for liver cancer via this project, the plan is to reduce the incidence and mortality rates of liver cancer, register newly identified abnormal cases as liver cancer screening candidates, and promote linkage with information provision, education, periodic examinations, and liver cancer screening projects related to hepatitis.
A health center official stated, “Hepatitis B and C viruses are the most significant representative risk factors for liver cancer, accounting for 85% of liver cancer incidence,” and added, “We hope that eligible individuals visit the health center or nearby health branches or health clinics for consultation by the 31st.”
Health Center Director Jeong Myeonghee urged, “We ask for the interest and participation of many residents in this free hepatitis screening to reduce the morbidity rate of liver cancer through early detection of high-risk groups and to protect the healthy lives of residents.”
Meanwhile, to conduct accurate hepatitis testing, the Hampyeong County Public Health Center signed a consignment agreement in April with Seegene Medical Foundation and Hampyeong Seongsim Hospital for specimen testing and detailed examination of suspected cases, and is promoting the project.
