[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao announced on the 14th that the TikTok video related to the Kakao Friends character 'Apeach' has recorded 170 million views.
Last month, Kakao released 'Peach Five' on the official Apeach TikTok account. The episodes of Peach Five gained popularity among global users. The account's followers increased by 160%, from 100,000 to 260,000 in one month.
The nationalities of the followers were 18% Japan, 14% United States, 14% Korea, 5% Indonesia, and 5% Vietnam.
The Peach Five videos, featuring addictive music and Apeach's cute movements, were shared as memes (online trending content) among users.
The official Apeach videos used as memes also recorded 18.8 million views.
Kakao plans to continue various experiments utilizing the Apeach character intellectual property (IP) to increase engagement with the MZ generation and expand its global fan base, starting with the Peach Five series.
A Kakao representative stated, "Based on various content utilizing character IP, we will expand into domestic and international markets, especially focusing on the global market centered on Japan."
