Discovering New Young Instructors, Providing Capacity Building Training and Lecture Opportunities
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) announced that it will newly promote the ‘Single Youth Household Support Project’ and the ‘New Youth Instructor Discovery and Support Project’ through ‘Seoul Youth Center Mapo Orang,’ a youth-exclusive space representing the district.
The ‘Single Household Youth Support’ project of Mapo Orang is a program to form networks and maintain continuous exchanges among single youth households in the area, providing up to 3 million KRW in support funds to selected participating groups (meetings).
Eligibility for support includes groups or meetings composed of two or more youths aged 19 to 39 who reside in Mapo-gu or are based in Mapo-gu. Applicants must be able to operate community-based relationship-building programs focused on hobbies, leisure activities, and educational activities of single youth households in Mapo-gu, or carry out projects that collect and discover service information necessary for single youth households.
The application period is until the 20th of this month.
The ‘Youth Instructor Support’ program, called ‘Cheongnyeon Gangsarang,’ recruits new youth instructors who dream of instructor activities using their own educational content or who have started lecture activities within less than one year.
Selected youth instructors can participate in education and study meetings to strengthen their capabilities as professional instructors and will be given the opportunity to organize and conduct four lectures themselves.
Instructors will also receive lecture fees, and Mapo Orang will support promotion such as participant recruitment and lecture venues.
The district plans to select and support a total of six youth instructors through this recruitment, and youths wishing to apply should do so by the 19th.
In addition, Mapo Orang operates youth participation programs such as ‘Doo City Talk,’ where youths hold meetings twice a month on various activity themes, and ‘Maeumirang,’ which monitors youths’ minds through art and reading. On the 7th, it also launched ‘Jogeum Neurin Somssibang,’ a hobby learning class conducted at a slow pace with text subtitles, where both instructors and participants wear lip-view masks to enable participation by youths with hearing impairments.
All programs operated by Mapo Orang, including new support projects, can be checked on the Mapo Orang website and Instagram, and participation is free of charge.
Also, any youth wishing to use the space can do so through prior reservation or on-site registration.
Yudonggyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “Through various support projects of Seoul Youth Center Mapo Orang, I hope to provide vitality and energy to the lives of single youth households in vulnerable situations, as well as opportunities for diverse capacity development.”
