Housing Finance Research Institute Holds Joint Research Presentation with Dong-A University Global Finance Research Center

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The Korea Housing Finance Corporation's Housing Finance Research Institute announced on the 13th that it held a joint research presentation with Dong-A University Global Finance Research Institute.

This presentation was arranged after the two institutions established an industry-academia cooperation on housing and financial markets in September last year.

The seminar focused on the growth of the domestic housing REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) market and the role of guarantee institutions. REITs are companies or investment trusts that collect funds from investors to invest in real estate or related products and distribute the generated profits to the investors.

Subsequently, research papers were presented on topics including ▲ Effectiveness analysis of support policies for elderly house-poor individuals ▲ Estimation of operational efficiency and regulatory effects of global listed REITs ▲ Evaluation of the three-factor model for mortgage-backed securities (MBS) products ▲ Analysis of hedge efficiency of government bond futures (possibility of introducing 10-year government bond futures as a hedging tool).

A representative from the Korea Housing Finance Corporation emphasized, “We will utilize the seminar and academic and information exchange activities to improve the corporation’s financial products and develop new products.”
