[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Autonomous Police Committee announced on the 13th that it has appointed Oh Yoon-soo, former head of the Security Division at Gwangju Police Agency, as a standing member who also serves as the secretary-general, and appointed Yang Sung-jin, former first deputy head of Gwangju Police Agency, as a policy advisor.
Standing member Oh Yoon-soo graduated from Chonnam National University with a degree in law and is recognized as an expert in public safety administration, having served as head of the Intelligence Division, the Community Safety Division, and the Security Division at Gwangju Police Agency.
Oh was unanimously elected by attending members at the first meeting of the Autonomous Police Committee held on the 10th and was officially appointed after the chairman’s nomination.
Yang Sung-jin, appointed as the autonomous police policy advisor, will play a pivotal role in developing solid policies, stabilizing the system, and facilitating smooth communication and cooperation during the early implementation of the autonomous police system.
Policy advisor Yang Sung-jin graduated from the Korean National Police University (1st class) and has served as director of the Police Policy Research Institute and as first and second deputy head of Gwangju Police Agency. He is regarded as a police administration expert with a deep understanding of regional public safety conditions and is expected to contribute to establishing a stable foundation for the early and stable operation of the autonomous police system.
Gwangju City expects the autonomous police system to settle early as experts with capabilities and experience have been appointed as standing members and policy advisors.
Meanwhile, the Gwangju City Autonomous Police Committee, launched on the 10th, will operate on a trial basis until June 30 and will begin full operation from July 1.
