Gangjin-gun Achieves 1st Place Among Gun Units in Jeonnam in Government Joint Evaluation

Ranked 20th and 15th in 2018 and 2019 respectively, rising to 4th place this year as well

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do ranked 4th in the province among 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do in the 2021 (2020 performance) Government Joint Evaluation, rising 11 places compared to last year, achieving the best results among county-level units.

According to the county on the 13th, the Government Joint Evaluation is conducted annually by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety based on the Government Work Evaluation Basic Act, evaluating quantitatively and qualitatively the national delegated (subsidized) tasks performed and the achievements of major national policies in the past year across 17 cities and provinces nationwide.

In this evaluation, the county achieved the target for 57 out of 71 quantitative indicators.

In particular, in the qualitative evaluation, among 26 indicators, the county was recognized for excellent performance in 11 indicators including public works openness and utilization resources, promotion of veterans' spirit, innovation-oriented public procurement, improvement of working conditions for sanitation workers, efforts to improve multicultural family support projects, implementation of Culture Day policies, revitalization of workplace sports teams, eradication and recovery efforts of improper subsidy handling, prevention and reduction of local budget waste, maintenance and utilization of outdoor advertisements, and stable settlement support efforts for North Korean defectors.

The county will receive a financial incentive of 100 million KRW and a reward of 15 million KRW through this evaluation.

County Governor Lee Seung-ok stated, “Achieving 4th place in the province in the Government Joint Evaluation, the most credible local government evaluation conducted annually, is a recognition of the excellence of our county's administrative capabilities,” and added, “We will analyze underperforming indicators and make every effort to receive better evaluations.”
