Changwon City Holds 3rd Special Authority Securing Progress Report Meeting

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, held the '3rd Special Authority Securing Progress Report Meeting' on the 13th to prepare for the official launch of the special city status next year.


The meeting was presided over by First Deputy Mayor An Kyungwon, with Second Deputy Mayor Jeong Hyeran, policy and economic advisors, and heads of departments and offices in attendance.


The meeting proceeded with reports on securing special authorities and progress by each department, checking related issues, and discussing response strategies and priority promotion plans.


So far, the city has requested the enactment of the 2nd Local Government Transfer Act reflecting special affairs within this year from the Autonomy Decentralization Committee.


Additionally, the city has been actively engaged in legislative support activities to secure practical special authorities, such as submitting proposals to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Local Autonomy Act.


To secure authority over port management and operation closely related to citizens' lives, the city has been in contact with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and related ministries.


Furthermore, focusing on legislative support activities for individual law amendments, the city has been striving to secure key men for each special affair and is concentrating on developing justifications and logic to persuade central ministries and metropolitan local governments to adopt cooperative attitudes.


The city expressed its intention to continue comprehensive efforts to secure special authorities while focusing on the final review of transferred affairs currently underway at the Autonomy Decentralization Committee.
