Professional instructors visit companies and schools to provide volunteer-related education... Ongoing applications to Jungnang-gu Volunteer Center for training on using the 1365 Volunteer Portal Site
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Volunteer Center of Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) operates the ‘Visiting Volunteer School’ for residents who are interested in volunteering but hesitate because they do not know the specific methods of volunteering activities.
The ‘Visiting Volunteer School’ is a program where professional instructors visit companies, schools, social welfare facilities, and organizations to provide related education directly.
It is convenient because education can be received with the necessary content according to the desired time and place.
The education covers essential topics before full-fledged volunteer activities, such as how to use the 1365 Volunteer Portal site, the value and importance of volunteer activities, and the attitudes and roles of volunteers, providing a foundation for volunteers to continue their activities in the future.
Since its launch in 2008, the ‘Visiting Volunteer School’ has gained great popularity, with a total of 88,741 participants to date. This year, starting with Seoil University, it visits places where education is needed, such as community centers and dementia relief centers, helping volunteers acquire the necessary competencies.
Institutions and organizations wishing to receive education can apply to the Jungnang-gu Volunteer Center for detailed consultation.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “The Visiting Volunteer School will serve as a guide for those who want to help neighbors in need but hesitate to step forward,” adding, “I hope many residents will participate this year in creating a world where we live together.”
According to the 2019 Seoul Survey social investigation results, Jungnang-gu ranked second among Seoul’s autonomous districts in volunteer participation rate, with many residents joining to create a warm local community. Representative volunteer groups include the ‘Eternal Memory Volunteer Group,’ which manages the patriotic martyrs’ graves at Manguri Park, and the ‘Haedoduri Family Volunteer Group,’ where parents and children volunteer together.
