Allegations of Severe Academic Abuse Lead to Application of Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes Charges
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 12th, the Hwasun Police Station in Jeonnam announced that they have arrested and are investigating PC room owner A (35) on charges of special injury, special assault, confinement, and intimidation for abusing and confining multiple business partners like slaves over a long period, using unfair contracts as a weapon.
A is accused of repeatedly assaulting six people in their 20s, including business partner B, from September 2018 until recently.
In addition, A has been suspected of sexual abuse, leading to charges under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
The beginning of this misfortune started when they signed a joint investment contract with A after seeing an advertisement recruiting investors for the PC room.
Due to unfavorable contract terms in the joint investment agreement with A, such as "compensation of 20 million won per day for unauthorized absences," they were reportedly confined in a dormitory-like situation in an apartment in Hwasun-gun, living under A's orders.
Police investigations revealed that A operated up to 12 PC rooms and treated B and others like employees without paying profits or salaries.
The police are currently investigating A for repeated assaults and abuses citing reasons such as declining sales, and plan to apply for an arrest warrant after accurately determining the details of the case.
