[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] A man in his 40s who went missing after visiting a singing bar is presumed to have been murdered by the bar owner, and the police have launched a search operation to find the victim's body.

On the 12th, the Jungbu Police Station in Incheon announced that they are searching the area around Incheon New Port in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon to find the body of the murdered man in his 40s, Mr. A.

Mr. A is presumed to have been killed by the bar owner, Mr. B (mid-30s), at a singing bar in Sinpo-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon, around 2 a.m. on the 22nd of last month, and then abandoned.

The police identified the area around Incheon New Port as a likely disposal site by checking Mr. B’s vehicle movement route. The distance from the area where the singing bar is located to Songdo New Port is over 13 km.

The police have deployed a total of 127 officers, including 5 search dogs, 2 drones, and 4 underwater search personnel, to search construction sites, reclamation areas, and the sea near Incheon New Port.

A police official stated, "Although Mr. B has not disclosed the location where the body was disposed of, we are conducting the search based on the vehicle movement route, considering the area around Incheon New Port as a likely disposal site."

Mr. B is currently in police custody and under investigation but is reportedly denying the charges of murder and abandonment of the body.

However, based on the forensic results at the scene and CCTV footage, the police believe that Mr. B murdered Mr. A inside the singing bar. Bloodstains of Mr. A were found inside the bar, and his last known whereabouts were captured on the bar’s internal CCTV on the morning of the 22nd of last month.

Earlier, CCTV footage from the three entrances of the singing bar showed only Mr. A entering, with no footage of him leaving, and no traces of him were found on nearby area CCTV either.

Mr. A went missing after visiting the singing bar with an acquaintance, Mr. C, around 7:30 p.m. on the 21st of last month. Five days later, on the 26th, Mr. A’s father reported to the police that his son, who had gone out, had not returned home.

Since the report, the police formed a dedicated investigation team and have been conducting investigations, identifying Mr. B as the prime suspect and arresting him on the morning of the day on charges of murder and abandonment of a corpse.
