[Gangjin〓Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] The cultural tourism content that recreates the history and figures of Gangjin, the ‘Jomangan (an abbreviation for "Time to Meet Joseon") Project,’ began welcoming tourists on the 8th.
According to the county on the 12th, the ‘Jomangan Project,’ which has been implemented since 2019 to create jobs and develop tourism content, focuses on the teachings of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong, such as Sa (thought), Mo (appearance), Eon (speech), and Dong (action). It also shows the process of studying diligently at Sa-ui-jae and nurturing future scholars, thereby strengthening its educational significance and function, differentiating it from character recreation projects in other cities and counties.
In particular, the yard play ‘Jeong Hae-in-i Jo-so (It’s good in Gangjin, where Jeong Yak-yong taught profound knowledge and life lessons)’ is emerging as a major attraction in Gangjin County with a solid script and a performance completed through interaction with tourists.
The actors appearing in this performance, held twice every Saturday and Sunday, are all residents of the Gangjin area, ranging from middle school students to people in their 70s.
Although amateur actors trained through the Jomangan Project Academy, they convey humor and lessons to the audience by recreating the exile period of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong with passion and pride comparable to professional actors.
At the first performance on the 8th, tourists danced together and created joyful memories by taking photos with the actors after the show.
The Jomangan Project is conducted in two ways: a character recreation corner and a 30-minute yard play in the Sa-ui-jae marketplace area of Gangjin-eup, and it is scheduled to be held about 50 times every Saturday and Sunday, excluding the hottest season, until November 14.
Kim Bada, CEO of the Gangjin Cultural Tourism Foundation, stated, “We will expand the figures and materials that embody the history of Gangjin, such as poet Kim Yunsik and Hamel, and foster the Jomangan Project as a representative tourism product of Gangjin County.”
