Special Lecture by Designers from YouTube, CEEYA, ZOOX, and Google
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Why are global designers coming to Busan?
Prominent designers from Korea who are active in world-renowned companies such as Google and YouTube are gathering at Gyeongnam Information University in Busan.
Gyeongnam Information University (President Chu Man-seok) announced on the 12th that it will hold the 2nd CCF (Creative Convergence Forum) special lecture at 1 p.m. on May 22 at the Miraegwan Global Convention Hall.
Last year, Gyeongnam Information University created the CCF (Creative Convergence Forum) with global experts to nurture students as creative convergence talents and held the 1st CCF special lecture.
The 2nd CCF to be held on the 22nd will host designers from world-class companies such as YouTube, Silicon Valley startup CEEYA, Amazon’s autonomous vehicle subsidiary ZOOX, and Google under the theme "Designing the World."
The lectures will be held over four hours and include ▲ ‘Design that Dies to Live, Subtitle: Fail Fast through Hypothesis Testing’ by David Lee, CPO of CEEYA ▲ ‘Climbing the Intern Ladder’ by Genie Kim, Software Engineer at ZOOX ▲ ‘The Story of a Korean Designer in Silicon Valley’ by Yuni Choi, UX Designer at Google ▲ ‘The Power of Questions that Change the Direction of the Ship’ by Jeiko Soh, Art Director at YouTube.
Although the 2nd CCF is prepared for students of Gyeongnam Information University, it is also open to Busan citizens on a first-come, first-served basis.
Due to social distancing measures limiting offline attendance, the event will also be simultaneously broadcast live on YouTube.
Professor Choi Dong-cheol of the Industrial Design Department, who planned the event, said, “It is meaningful to see lectures from people who are hard to meet. It will greatly help instill a spirit of challenge toward the world and foster convergent thinking in students.”
Meanwhile, President Chu Man-seok of Gyeongnam Information University said, “I am very pleased to hold a very meaningful event in the university community, which has been shrinking due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
President Chu added, “Gyeongnam Information University will continue to prepare forum events on various topics for students and the citizens of Busan.”
This event is hosted by Gyeongnam Information University and organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea as part of the 2021 Specialized College Innovation Support Project (Type 1). Applications can be made through the Gyeongnam Information University website, and the YouTube link will be released together.
