Gwangju Buk-gu Signs Basic Agreement with LH Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters for Life SOC Construction Project

Gwangju Buk-gu Signs Basic Agreement with LH Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters for Life SOC Construction Project

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 12th that it will sign a basic agreement with LH Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters (Head Lee Jaero) on the 13th to promote the ‘Construction Project of Living SOC within Gwangju Ochi Permanent Rental Complex.’

This agreement was prepared to expand living infrastructure in nearby areas including Ochi-dong, Yongbong-dong, Maegok-dong, and Samgak-dong by utilizing idle land within the rental housing complex.

The agreement states that Buk-gu will ▲ prepare the urban regeneration recognition project plan and apply for the contest ▲ carry out administrative tasks such as detailed design and construction ▲ operate and manage the facilities, while LH will ▲ provide the project site free of charge ▲ support detailed design and construction, cooperating accordingly.

The urban regeneration recognition project is a system newly established following the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the ‘Act on Activation and Support of Urban Regeneration’ in 2019, which supports small-scale development projects with up to 5 billion KRW in national funds.

The two organizations plan to secure project funds through the 2021 Urban Regeneration Recognition Project contest hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in August.

The facilities to be constructed will be decided by reflecting various opinions of residents during the basic plan establishment process.

Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, said, “This agreement was prepared to revitalize the area through the construction of Living SOC and to provide improved public services to local residents,” adding, “We will closely cooperate with LH Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters to achieve good results in the contest project.”
