[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Yuhan Corporation is making a full-scale entry into the pet market by launching 'Jedacure,' a treatment for canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS).

On the 11th, Yuhan Corporation held a launch event for Jedacure at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul. Jedacure, developed by GNT Pharma, is the first domestic veterinary drug approved for treating canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome, receiving product approval from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency in February. It can be purchased with a veterinarian's prescription at animal hospitals.

CDS in pets shows symptoms similar to Alzheimer's dementia in humans, leading to a decline in the quality of life for dogs and causing behaviors such as inappropriate urination and barking at night, which affect the relationship between pets and their owners. When the main ingredient of Jedacure, crisdesalazine, is administered to animal models of Alzheimer's dementia, amyloid plaques and neuronal cell death?known causes of Alzheimer's?are significantly reduced, and cognitive function improves.

As the pet industry rapidly grows, Yuhan Corporation is integrating its accumulated experience and know-how in the pharmaceutical market into total healthcare for pets. In particular, interest in total healthcare for pets is increasing, along with rising demand for products to manage aging pets.
