Gyeonggi Province Spokesperson: "Please Refrain from Speculative Reports on Governor Lee Jae-myung's Presidential Bid... Focus on Provincial Administration"

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has requested the media to refrain from distorting reports by linking every move of Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung to presidential election-related activities.

Kim Hong-guk, spokesperson for Gyeonggi Province, pointed out on the 11th, "As the activities of other presidential candidates accelerate, Governor Lee Jae-myung's remarks and schedules are being excessively interpreted as presidential election-related activities, resulting in distorted reporting of their intent."

Spokesperson Kim also presented representative cases of distortion.

He stated, "Governor Lee plans to visit Gunsan on the 17th to attend the 'Automobile Alternative Certification Parts Business Agreement' between Gyeonggi Province and Jeonbuk Provincial Office, and will carry out his schedule in Jeonbuk. Contrary to some media reports, there is no plan to visit Gwangju on the 18th, and the schedule for that day has not yet been confirmed."

Spokesperson Kim further added, "Although completely unconfirmed false reports and speculative coverage continue to emerge, Governor Lee Jae-myung is currently doing his best in his duties and focusing on provincial administration."

He also urged the media, "We hope that activities related to the governor's provincial administration will not be forcibly interpreted and reported in connection with the presidential election."
