Love for Hometown Delivered Through Masks, Request to Refrain from Visiting Hometowns to Prevent COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 11th that it received a donation of 250,000 masks from the Jaegyeong Goheung-gun Hometown Association (President Lee Ho).
This donation reflects the hometown love for residents who are facing difficulties due to recent COVID-19 infections, with 100,000 masks donated by President Lee Ho of the Jaegyeong Goheung-gun Hometown Association, 100,000 masks by Honorary President Shin Won-ho, and 50,000 masks by Advisory Committee Member Kim Seong-su.
Meanwhile, President Lee expressed, “In celebration of Family Month in May, I donated masks with thoughts of my parents in my hometown. I hope that the recently confirmed COVID-19 cases will not spread further, and I pray for the health of all, including the elders of my hometown.”
A county official said, “We sincerely thank the presidents for donating masks that are essential during these difficult times, and we will mobilize all administrative efforts to fully focus on quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” adding, “We ask all hometown association members from various regions to refrain from visiting their hometowns to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
The Jaegyeong Hometown Association (President Lee Ho) practiced their love for their hometown by donating 75,000 masks last September from President Lee Ho and the town and township hometown associations, and 30,000 masks in February from Kim Su-yeol, President of the Korea Jump Rope Association and a native of Podu-myeon.
Meanwhile, the county plans to distribute the 250,000 donated masks to vulnerable residents aged 65 and older through the towns and townships.
