[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] SK Telecom stated during the Q1 2021 earnings conference call held on the 11th that it plans to launch an integrated subscription service in the second half of the year. When asked about the overall progress related to subscription services, the company responded, "We believe the subscription business is one that MNOs can excel at," adding, "We possess vast data accumulation, digital infrastructure capable of everything from product design to offering, and both online and offline marketing capabilities across various fields such as telecommunications, media, and e-commerce. Based on these capabilities, we believe it is possible to generate sizable revenue not only from our customers but also from 50 million customers."
They continued, "Currently, we are expanding subscriptions into various areas such as media, delivery, and education," and said, "To provide customers with the optimal package, we are building an AI-based system, and in the second half of the year, we will introduce the existing T Membership as a subscription service available to the entire population." The domestic subscription market is expected to grow to 49 trillion won last year and 100 trillion won in 2022.
