Hyundai Motor-Supported Social Enterprise Develops LEI Optimized for Wheelchair Users
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 11th that it held a 'Mobility Contribution Project for the Mobility-Impaired' delivery ceremony at the Culture Yard of the Culture Reservoir in Mapo-gu, Seoul. About 20 people attended the ceremony, including Kim Seon-soon, Director of Seoul Welfare Policy Office, Kim Sang-gyun, Secretary General of the Community Chest of Korea, and Lee Byung-hoon, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor Group.
Through this event, Hyundai Motor Group will donate a total of 20 Kia Ray welfare vehicles. The vehicles, worth a total of 500 million KRW, will be donated equally?10 each?to the Seoul Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled and the Korea Central Association of Senior Welfare.
The donated Ray welfare vehicles were developed by Easy Move Co., Ltd., a social enterprise nurtured by Hyundai Motor Group, and feature designs optimized for wheelchair users. The delivered vehicles will be handed over to beneficiary organizations and mobility-impaired individuals selected through internal screening by each recipient institution.
A Hyundai Motor Group official stated, "The support project for transportation-disadvantaged people, which has continued since 2014, is an extension of the group's activities for smart mobility solution companies," adding, "We will continue to devise ways to help transportation-disadvantaged people in our society with creative ideas across various fields."
