People Power Party "Dispatching Vaccine Delegation to the US... We Will Restore People's Happiness"

[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] The People Power Party will send a COVID-19 vaccine delegation to the United States on the 12th.

Kim Ki-hyun, Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader of the People Power Party, stated at the floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly on the 11th, "At the People Power Party level, we will officially dispatch lawmakers Park Jin and Choi Hyung-doo to the United States as a vaccine delegation."

Acting Leader Kim emphasized, "The People Power Party will take the lead to ensure the smooth supply of urgently needed vaccines," adding, "We will fight for the people's livelihood to reclaim the happiness of the people and restore a proud Republic of Korea against the hypocritical government."

The People Power Party had previously proposed dispatching a vaccine diplomacy delegation to conclude the 'Korea-US Vaccine Swap' agreement. Kang Min-guk, the party's floor spokesperson, said, "Yesterday, we proposed a resolution as the party's official stance to establish a 'Korea-US Vaccine Partnership,' including the Korea-US vaccine swap," adding, "However, the Blue House has not responded to the People Power Party's proposal to dispatch a vaccine diplomacy delegation. The People Power Party can no longer stand by while vaccine procurement, which is directly linked to the people's lives, is neglected."

Furthermore, Spokesperson Kang pointed out, "The government claims to have secured sufficient vaccines to achieve herd immunity, but more important than securing vaccine quantities is the timing of vaccination," adding, "At a time when the people's endurance of suffering has reached its limit, how long will the government keep telling the people to wait? Instead of psychological torture, the people need early vaccination to return to daily life."

Spokesperson Kang also stated, "While the government continues to make mistakes, major countries around the world have been conducting silent vaccine diplomacy since last year. In fact, the United States has supported 4 million doses of the AstraZeneca-developed vaccine to Mexico and Canada through vaccine swaps," adding, "The government must prepare comprehensive diplomatic strategies to secure vaccines, not temporary measures that 'take from the bottom stone to support the top stone' due to vaccine shortages. This includes establishing a Korea-US vaccine partnership including vaccine swaps, proactively considering participation in the Quad, promoting an Asian vaccine hub, and preparing intergovernmental measures necessary for national interests."
