Sexual Harassment of Female Officer by Colleague in Active Police Group Chat... National Police Agency Launches Investigation

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] A report has been filed that active police officers sexually harassed a female colleague in a group chat, prompting the National Police Agency to investigate the matter.

A National Police Agency official said on the 11th, "We are investigating the incident," adding, "Since the investigation is ongoing, it is difficult to provide detailed information."

The Human Rights Investigation Division of the National Police Agency has reportedly begun investigating three officers: Inspector A from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Audit and Inspection Office, Sergeant B from the Women and Juvenile Division of a police station in Seoul, and Sergeant C working at a police substation in Songpa Police Station.

They are suspected of exchanging sexual conversations about a female police officer while communicating with former police officer D via mobile messenger. D was arrested and prosecuted in 2018 for sexually assaulting a female colleague while working at a police station in Seoul, and in July 2019, the Supreme Court confirmed a four-year prison sentence for him.

The National Police Agency is reported to have secured materials in which they mentioned the real name of the female colleague and made sexual remarks, and is currently verifying the facts.
