Kia's EV6 Pre-Orders Close Early on 14th... Annual Production Target Surpassed 2.3 Times

Pre-Order Ratio for Long-Range Model at 66%... "Reflecting Customer Interest in Driving Range"

Kia's EV6 Pre-Orders Close Early on 14th... Annual Production Target Surpassed 2.3 Times

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Kia is closing early the pre-orders for its first dedicated electric vehicle, the EV6, about half a month ahead of schedule. The number of pre-orders has surpassed 30,000, greatly exceeding this year's annual production target.

Kia announced on the 11th that the pre-orders for the EV6, originally scheduled to run until the 31st, will be closed early on the 14th. This comes just 45 days after the pre-orders began.

According to Kia, the number of EV6 pre-orders exceeded 30,000 from March 31st to the day before. This is approximately 2.3 times the production target of 13,000 units for this year. The company explained that the shortened pre-order period is a decision to ensure smooth vehicle delivery.

The pre-order ratio by EV6 model is 9% for Standard, 66% for Long Range, 20% for GT Line, and 5% for GT, with about two-thirds of pre-order customers favoring the Long Range model. A Kia official stated, "This appears to reflect customers' interest in the electric vehicle's single-charge driving range."

In particular, Kia introduced an online reservation system for the first time among domestic automakers through this EV6 pre-order, resulting in more than half (54%) of individual customers participating in pre-orders online.

Kia plans to proceed with EV6 contracts preferentially through a contract conversion (Pre-Order) period, during which domestic pre-order customers can select the vehicle's trim, options, and color. Specific launch schedules will be separately notified to customers.

Customers who missed the EV6 pre-order can make additional contracts at Kia sales outlets after the contract conversion period for pre-order customers ends.

Meanwhile, the EV6 has also attracted high interest in Europe, which has recently emerged as the world's largest electric vehicle market, surpassing 7,300 pre-orders and recording about 26,000 potential customers requesting vehicle information from Kia.

A Kia official said, "We sincerely thank customers for their interest during the EV6 pre-order period," adding, "We will spare no effort until the delivery to customers so that those who chose the EV6 can enjoy a new mobility experience as soon as possible."
