[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province is conducting a survey on the actual conditions of general industrial complexes and urban high-tech industrial complexes within the province to establish effective policies for revitalizing industrial complexes.

In particular, this is the first comprehensive survey at the metropolitan government level on general industrial complexes and urban high-tech industrial complexes managed by local governments.

On the 11th, the province stated regarding the survey, "Considering that most data related to general industrial complexes and urban high-tech industrial complexes were registered at the initial occupancy stage, this is a basic data update effort to implement policies that meet the actual demands of resident companies."

The survey will be conducted by the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency as the executing organization, targeting about 11,500 resident companies in 134 industrial complexes within the province from this month until the end of August.

Resident companies currently in operation will be visited directly for a questionnaire covering overall status such as production, export, and employment, and non-face-to-face surveys via phone, fax, and email will be conducted considering the COVID-19 situation.

Companies not included in the preliminary survey list will also be additionally identified to ensure a practical comprehensive survey.

The province plans to extract a sample of 1,000 companies from the survey results and conduct a demand survey for necessary industrial complex policies at the central government or local government level, and based on the research results, publish a "research report" that will serve as the foundation for industrial complex revitalization policies.

Additionally, the province will establish the "Gyeonggi-do Industrial Complex Integrated Information System" to share industrial complex data and research results obtained through the survey with city/county governments and industrial complex stakeholders.

Meanwhile, based on the 2019 business survey results, Gyeonggi Province has the largest number of manufacturing companies nationwide, totaling 133,317 (30.2% of the nation).

Among these, 31,110 companies, accounting for 23.3%, are located in national, general, urban high-tech, and agro-industrial complexes, employing 494,343 people.

Song Eun-sil, head of the Industrial Policy Division of the province, emphasized, "This industrial complex survey is an important investigation that will form the basis for establishing balanced development policies in Gyeonggi Province through industrial complex revitalization."
