[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 11th that it will sponsor pocket billiards players Lee Woojin and Seo Seoah, who belong to the Korea Billiards Federation, for the next three years. As part of its support for less popular sports, LG Uplus signed a sponsorship agreement with the two players affiliated with the Korea Billiards Federation and promised full support.

Lee Woojin (Busan Billiards Federation, 23), sponsored by LG Uplus and known as the "Future of Korean Women's Pocket Billiards," is ranked third domestically and was the first Korean player in pocket billiards history to reach the finals of the World Junior Championship. She won first place in the 9-ball high school division at the 2017 National Student Billiards Championships and the junior individual doubles title at the Asian Pocket Billiards Championship.
Seo Seoah (Jeonnam Billiards Federation, 20) is known as the youngest top-ranked domestic player in the pocket billiards category in Korea and is regarded as a promising world champion. Starting with first place at the 2018 National Student Billiards Championships, she also won first place at the 2019 Muan Hwangto Onion Cup and the Korea Billiards Federation President’s Cup National Billiards Tournament. Recently, she secured first place for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021 at the "National Center of the Land Cup National Billiards Tournament."
Kim Saera, Head of LG Uplus Marketing Group, said, "I hope the passion of athletes in less popular sports receives as much attention and support as those in famous sports. We hope this sponsorship will provide some strength to the players striving toward their dreams."
Since 2015, LG Uplus has continuously supported less popular sports, starting with the "LG U+ Cup 3-Cushion Masters" tournament until 2019, and sponsoring Korea Billiards Federation player Kim Haengjik for six years from 2016 to the end of 2021.
