[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Moon Sung-hyuk, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved family of the late Lee Seon-ho (23), who died in an accident at Pyeongtaek Port on the 10th.
On the same day, at the 'Emergency Safety Management Inspection Meeting in the Marine and Fisheries Sector' held at the Government Sejong Complex, Minister Moon said, "I pray for the repose of the late Lee Seon-ho, who tragically lost his life in the accident at Pyeongtaek Port, and extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to his family."
Minister Moon instructed, "Taking this accident as an opportunity, thoroughly inspect the safety conditions across the marine and fisheries industry sites, including port cargo handling, port construction, and fishing vessel safety, and rigorously address any shortcomings."
He also urged, "Since the local Employment and Labor Office and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency are conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident, related authorities should actively cooperate to complete the investigation as soon as possible so that it may provide some comfort to the bereaved family."
Mr. Lee died after being trapped underneath a support weighing approximately 300 kg that collapsed while he was cleaning inside an open-type container at Pyeongtaek Port on the 22nd of last month.
