Jeju National University Reports 5 COVID-19 Cases in Two Days... College of Humanities Temporarily Closed

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Jeju National University is on high alert as COVID-19 cases continue to emerge.


According to Jeju National University on the 10th, as of 5 p.m. that day, five enrolled students tested positive for COVID-19. Following one student from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature and one student from the Department of Computer Statistics testing positive on the 9th, two students from the Department of Korean Language and Literature and one student from the Department of Philosophy were confirmed positive on the same day.


Jeju National University identified that four of the five COVID-19 positive students are enrolled in the College of Humanities, leading to the temporary closure of Humanities Building 1 and Building 2 for disinfection and sterilization. Additionally, the lecture rooms of the Department of Computer Statistics and the university dormitories associated with the COVID-19 cases have undergone disinfection and sterilization.


A university official stated, "We are awaiting the COVID-19 test results of about 80 university members who had contact with the confirmed cases," and added, "We are considering measures such as suspending all academic schedules for the next two weeks."
