[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The National Theater announced on the 10th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SK Telecom and Content Wave to distribute and expand performing arts content.

The National Theater, Wave, and SK Telecom have agreed to build a system that produces excellent domestic performing arts content using 5G-based new technologies and distributes it through video service platforms. The high-quality performance content completed through this MOU is scheduled to meet audiences via the Wave channel starting in the second half of this year.

The digital videos envisioned by the three parties include ▲multi-view and multi-audio allowing viewers to select specific instrument sounds or performers ▲multi-angle viewing to enjoy performances from various perspectives ▲explanatory videos and performer interviews.

Kim Cheol-ho, director of the National Theater, stated, “Through this MOU, the National Theater’s high-quality live performances can be conveniently enjoyed by anyone on familiar platforms without spatial or temporal constraints. It is meaningful that a public arts institution and private companies have united to expand the base of traditional arts.”
