[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The National Delivery Workers' Union (Delivery Union) under the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Service Federation, which had declared a general strike over the issue of ground-level vehicle access control in park-style apartments, announced that it will postpone the strike. This decision follows the government's official proposal to form a social dialogue body.
In a press release, the Delivery Union stated, "The government clearly indicated that this is not the opinion of an individual official but an official government proposal aimed at resolving the situation," adding, "We will temporarily postpone the strike while fundamental discussions take place within the consultative body."
The name of the consultative body proposed by the government is tentatively 'Consultative Body for Solving Delivery Issues in Ground-Level Park Apartments.' Participants include government bodies such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, as well as delivery companies and the Delivery Union.
The Delivery Union explained, "The government initially considered having only the Integrated Logistics Association, representing delivery companies, participate, but since it was confirmed that the Integrated Logistics Association has no influence over individual delivery companies, it decided to encourage participation from each delivery company, including CJ Logistics."
They plan to hold the first official meeting within this week. The agenda for discussion will be finalized at the first meeting, according to reports.
