‘Eco-friendly, Coexistence, and Fairness’ Ports are Changing … Busan Port Authority, First Port Public Corporation to Announce ESG Management Strategy Busan Port Authority held the "ESG Management Promotion Ceremony," the first among public port corporations, on the 10th at its headquarters in Jungang-dong, Busan.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Nam Ki-chan) held the first-ever "ESG Management Promotion Ceremony" among port public enterprises on the 10th at its headquarters in Jungang-dong, Busan.

BPA's initiative to adopt ESG management aims to lead the sustainable growth of Busan Port in the post-COVID-19 era by incorporating social values such as coexistence and cooperation into port management, fulfilling the role of a port public enterprise, and contributing to the national economy through Busan Port.

BPA has established three major ESG management strategies: "Realization of a Sustainable Eco-friendly Port (E)," "Enhancement of Vitality in the Port Community through Coexistence and Cooperation (S)," and "Implementation of Value Management based on Fairness and Trust (G)."

Additionally, nine strategic tasks were selected, including reducing port fine dust, promoting community value based on communication and collaboration, and building public trust through strengthening ethical management.

To secure strong momentum for ESG management, a dedicated task force led by the president was formed, and an ESG Committee sub-division was newly established within the Busan Port Authority Port Committee, the highest decision-making body, to review plans and monitor the implementation of ESG management overall.

For solid ESG management, Busan Port Authority plans to incorporate the BPA New Deal comprehensive plan established last year into the ESG management plan, develop key performance indicators suitable for Busan Port, specify performance goals, and continuously manage outcomes.

President Nam Ki-chan stated, "BPA will play a pioneering role in leading ESG management based on Busan Port so that the local community and the port can coexist, cooperate, and achieve sustainable growth."
