Received Additional Tips on Son Jeongmin Case
Police: "The 'Golden' in the Video is Presumed to Refer to a Singer"
Some Suggest 'Game Tier'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The police investigating the case of university student Son Jeong-min (22), who went missing and was found dead at Seoul Hangang Park, have secured additional tips and are analyzing them.
A Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official stated at a press briefing held on the 10th, "There were additional tips, and some of them are valuable for analysis." He added, "They are not witnesses," and said, "We consider them valuable tips and are conducting a detailed analysis."
The police have investigated a total of five groups and seven witnesses related to this case and are continuing the investigation to secure additional witnesses or evidence. They are also analyzing footage from 54 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras near the Hangang Park where Jeong-min went missing, as well as black box recordings from 133 vehicles that entered the park.
The police also provided an explanation regarding various speculations arising from the conversation captured in a video recorded by Jeong-min and his friend A on the day of the disappearance. According to Jeong-min’s father, Son Hyun, in the video, A made a deep bow to Jeong-min, to which Jeong-min responded, "You messed up the golden gun, honestly." Son Hyun said, "At the time, I ignored that conversation, but why did he bow when they were filming together? He must have done something wrong to bow, but what was that mistake?" He added, "I have been deeply pondering what they mean by 'golden.'"
A police official said about "golden," "So far, it seems to refer to a singer named Golden," and added, "It appears to be a discussion of a common interest in a friendly situation." However, some have suggested that it might be an expression related to rankings in the game 'League of Legends,' which Jeong-min used to enjoy. Another interpretation is that it is a metaphor derived from the phrase "winning a gold medal," which is used to describe submitting an exam paper first and leaving the exam room early after performing poorly.
