Hyundai Construction Wins Both Hannam-dong Reconstruction and Uijeongbu Redevelopment Projects Simultaneously

[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Hyundai Engineering & Construction has simultaneously secured the small-scale reconstruction project of Hannam Sibeom Apartment in Yongsan, Seoul, and the residential redevelopment project of Geum-o Living Zone 1 District in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 10th that it was selected as the construction company at the extraordinary general meeting held on the 9th for the selection of the construction company for the small-scale reconstruction maintenance project of Hannam Sibeom Apartment in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Hyundai Engineering & Construction, selected as the preferred negotiation partner due to the absence of bidding competitors, received 77 out of 80 votes (93.9%) in the union members' vote for the private contract on the same day.

This project involves constructing 120 apartment units and ancillary welfare facilities in four buildings with four basement floors and four above-ground floors on a 7,345.4㎡ site located at 22, Dokseodang-ro 34-gil, Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Hyundai Engineering & Construction stated that it plans to introduce ‘THE H Maison Hannam,’ applying its premium residential brand ‘THE H’ to this site.

At the same time, Hyundai Engineering & Construction was selected as the construction company for the residential redevelopment maintenance project of Geum-o Living Zone 1 District in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province. At the extraordinary general meeting held on the same day, Hyundai Engineering & Construction was chosen as the final construction company with 289 votes (97.2%) out of 297 union member votes. Geum-o Living Zone 1 District, designated and announced as a maintenance zone in August 2010, has continued the project, receiving approval for the management disposition plan in 2019. However, just before construction began, the contract with the previous construction company was terminated due to unresolved differences, and a new construction company selection process was initiated.

The Geum-o Living Zone 1 District residential redevelopment project involves constructing 832 apartment units and ancillary welfare facilities in 11 buildings with three basement floors and 32 above-ground floors on a 32,509㎡ site located at 25, Geum-o-ro 109beon-gil, Geum-o-dong, Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province. Hyundai Engineering & Construction proposed ‘Hillstate Lucentro,’ featuring curtain wall looks and large gate pillars.

A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official said, "Following last year’s record-breaking performance, this year we are maintaining a steady trend by achieving high order volumes not only in redevelopment and reconstruction but also in remodeling, street housing, and small-scale housing reconstruction projects. We will actively pursue orders by comprehensively evaluating projects where the future value of the site and our housing business competitiveness can create synergy, rather than focusing solely on project scale."
