The launch rally was conducted online in a non-face-to-face manner in accordance with COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, and an unprecedented event occurred with over one million participants from 194 countries worldwide.

The resolution included the commitment to “take the lead in achieving peace and unification of the Korean Peninsula and realizing lasting world peace through Think Tank 2022.”

The intellectual alliance Think Tank 2022, composed of 1,011 domestic experts and 1,011 overseas experts from various fields, was also launched on the same day.

It is an organization aimed at proposing policies to resolve division and conflict that provoke global crises by presenting the vision of coexistence, co-prosperity, and justice, which are the foundations of peace and unification.

On the day, former Prime Minister Chung said, “As we overcome the COVID-19 crisis, we are led to think about the global environment, human civilization, and a sustainable future,” adding, “This is a crisis that cannot be overcome by the leadership of an individual or a single nation alone. In that sense, I hope Think Tank 2022 will serve as a catalyst to advance peace on the Korean Peninsula and worldwide.”

Former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon evaluated, “Experts and leaders from various fields with a firm determination to build the path to peace on the Korean Peninsula were invited from around the world.”

Prime Minister Hun Sen conveyed, “I support peace on the Korean Peninsula and am confident that Think Tank 2022 will creatively and multidimensionally achieve lasting and sustainable peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.”
