Four Central and Local Government Research Institutes Propose Policy Coordination Measures to Address Youth Issues

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Institute announced on the 10th that it will hold the first forum of the Youth Policy Research Network, "Connecting Central and Local Youth Policies," in the afternoon of the 11th at the Seoul Institute's main conference room.

This forum is hosted by the Youth Policy Research Network, which was launched on February 25, and plans to hold a total of three forums this year to discuss ways to link central and regional youth policies.

The Youth Policy Research Network includes the Seoul Institute, Gyeongnam Research Institute, Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, and Korea Youth Policy Institute, working together to share youth issues and conduct joint research to solve youth problems. The first forum is a gathering of researchers and experts on youth policy from both local and central levels to discuss policy directions and agendas to address various youth issues nationwide and regionally.

The forum will proceed with a greeting from Acting Director Yoo Ki-young of the Seoul Institute, an introduction to the Youth Policy Research Network by Kim Seung-yeon, Head of the Urban Society Research Division at the Seoul Institute, keynote presentations, designated discussions, comprehensive discussions, and a Q&A session.

To maintain social distancing, the forum will be broadcast live online. Anyone can watch it through the Seoul Institute's official YouTube channel and the Seoul Institute website (www.si.re.kr).

Acting Director Yoo Ki-young stated, "Young people today, who find it difficult to even obtain fair opportunities due to structured inequality, are going through a tougher time than anyone else because of the COVID-19 pandemic," adding, "In February, local governments and national research institutions joined forces to launch the Youth Policy Research Network, and we are holding the first forum."
