4 More Infections in Cheongsong-gun Family Gathering... Gyeongbuk Province Reports 19 Confirmed Cases on Parents' Day

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] In Gyeongsangbuk-do, 19 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were added on the 8th, including a family gathering infection in Cheongsong and various locations across the region.

According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 9th, as of midnight, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area was 4,318 (including 119 imported cases), an increase of 19 from the previous day.

By region, confirmed cases include 4 in Cheongsong-gun, 3 each in Gumi-si and Chilgok-gun, 2 each in Gyeongju-si, Andong-si, and Yeongju-si, and 1 each in Gimcheon-si, Gyeongsan-si, and Mungyeong-si.

All 4 confirmed cases in Cheongsong-gun are residents of Juwangsan-myeon. They are parents and contacts infected by children (Cheongsong 50, 51) who recently visited their hometown. It was identified that they planted chili pepper seedlings together with existing confirmed cases in the same village.

Among the 3 new confirmed cases in Gumi-si, one is a contact of Gumi 511, confirmed on April 26, and the other two are contacts of Gumi 556, confirmed on the 6th.

Among the 3 in Chilgok-gun, one is a contact of Gumi 556, confirmed on the 6th, the infection route of another is unknown, and the remaining one was infected by someone nearby.

In Gyeongju-si and Andong-si, 2 confirmed cases each were identified from previous confirmed cases, and among the 2 confirmed cases in Yeongju-si, one was a contact of Yeongju 77, confirmed on April 28 related to an Andong acquaintance gathering, who tested positive during self-quarantine.

The new confirmed case in Gimcheon-si has an unknown infection route, the confirmed case in Gyeongsan-si is an acquaintance of Ulsan citizen 1996, confirmed on the 2nd, and the confirmed case in Mungyeong-si is a contact of Seoul Gangdong-gu 1405, confirmed on April 23.

In Gyeongbuk Province, 159 people (excluding imported cases) were confirmed in various locations over the past week, recording a weekly daily average of 22.7 confirmed cases. Currently, 2,785 people are under self-quarantine.
