[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, more people are taking family trips to hotels during May, the month of family. The hotel industry is attracting customers with 'differentiated packages' themed around family vacations with parents and children.
According to the hotel industry on the 8th, the proportion of reservations for groups of three or more has significantly increased this month. For Kolon LSI, the proportion of customers booking for three or more in May accounts for 40% of the total.
Kolon-affiliated hotels and resorts are offering 'Family Ho-cance' packages for the month of family. The themes include traditional experiences, nearby sightseeing picnics, and healing in pristine nature. Gyeongju Kolon Hotel offers a 'Minhwa Drawing' package where family customers can enjoy traditional cultural experiences in their rooms. Various coloring tools such as Minhwa templates, paints, and palettes are provided.
The 'Seoul Forest Picnic' package at Hotel Poco Seongsu in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, provides a picnic mat, eco bag, and two drinks to allow guests to enjoy a light outing to Seoul Forest. Kolon Sea Cloud Hotel in Haeundae-gu, Busan offers a 'Family and Sea' package that provides one free bedding set and additional breakfast benefits so the whole family can enjoy a Haeundae ho-cance together.
Paradise City in Incheon has collaborated with Daekyo to launch the 'Sangsang Kids' package, allowing guests to enjoy a unique kid-cance (kids + ho-cance). On the day of check-in, guests can participate in a 'Creative Art Class' with a Daekyo professional instructor, experiencing play and learning simultaneously. Package users receive Daekyo's 'STEAM Box,' which includes one themed craft kit usable in the class, two curated picture books, one Nuribook, and a one-month subscription to the Sangsang Kids app. The package is available from Friday to Sunday until June 27. The price starts at 430,000 KRW for two adults and one child in a Premier Deluxe Room.
Some places also offer packages themed 'A Pure Rest Just for Me,' including spa programs. Grand Josun Busan offers the 'Stay×Relax' package until September 30. This package, available in Premier and Executive Suite room types, includes the signature body program at Osellas Spa located on the 7th floor of the hotel. It is a 60-minute spa program worth 440,000 KRW (for two people) using German organic aroma brand Primavera base oils.
Benefits also include welcome wine in the room, fruit and cheese plates, and access to the private lounge 'Gran J.' Located on the 15th floor, Gran J offers morning tea time, daytime snacks, and happy hour. It allows entry for up to two adults and two children. When using the Executive Suite room, an additional breakfast benefit for two at the buffet restaurant Aria is provided. Prices range from 550,000 to 1,120,000 KRW depending on the day of the week (tax excluded).
