According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) on the 8th, cluster infection cases have been confirmed involving family members and acquaintances, schools, bathhouses, workplaces, and military units.
First, related to a family and acquaintances in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, a total of 12 people tested positive since the 3rd. Among them, 4 are acquaintances including the first confirmed case, and 8 are family members.
In Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, after the first patient was identified on the 5th at a telemarketing business, 13 more cases followed. All 14 confirmed cases are employees of the company.
At a military unit in Sejong City, one soldier who returned from leave and was in quarantine tested positive the day before yesterday, followed by three more soldiers testing positive consecutively.
Since the first confirmed case at a bathhouse in Saha-gu, Busan on the 29th, a total of 8 cases have been confirmed. At a high school in Jinju-si, Gyeongnam Province, 9 students and staff members tested positive.
Not only new infection cases but also additional confirmed cases from existing clusters are increasing the scale of infections. In the metropolitan area, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to an elderly welfare facility in Seongdong-gu, Seoul has risen to 15, and at a church in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, 8 more congregants were added during contact tracing, bringing the total to 27. Regarding a PC bang cluster infection in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, 10 more users and acquaintances tested positive, increasing the total to 35.
In connection with the Noryangjin Fish Market in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, 6 additional infections were confirmed during contact tracing, bringing the cumulative number of infected persons to 20.
In a cluster infection case spanning a daytime care center and a nearby elementary school in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi Province, a total of 94 confirmed cases have been reported, and 48 people tested positive related to local sports facilities and churches in the same area.
In Honam, confirmed cases related to a karaoke room in Seo-gu, Gwangju increased to 8, those related to a nightlife establishment in Yeosu-si, Jeonnam Province rose to 35, and cases linked to a public institution in Goheung-gun, Jeonnam Province reached 30.
In Gyeongbuk Province, 32 confirmed cases have been reported so far related to tennis courts in Gimcheon and Gumi areas, and the cumulative confirmed cases related to a gathering of acquaintances in Andong-si also increased to 32.
In Gyeongnam Province, additional confirmed cases were reported related to a bathhouse in Ulju-gun, Ulsan (total 18), an elementary school in Ulju-gun, Ulsan (19), a nightlife establishment in Jinju-si, Gyeongnam (13), and entertainment venues in Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam (55).
Additionally, confirmed cases continue to rise related to a family in Seo-gu, Daejeon (20), foreign workers in Gangneung-si, Gangwon Province (74), and a family in Jeju-si, Jeju Province (13).
However, the proportion of patients whose infection location and timing are unknown is 28.5%. Over the past two weeks from the 25th of last month to today, a total of 8,502 new COVID-19 cases were reported to health authorities, among which the infection routes of 2,420 cases have yet to be identified.
