[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gimcheon City, Gyeongbuk (Mayor Kim Chung-seop) announced on the 8th that it will accept applications for participants in the "1st Happy together English Speech Contest" from the 10th to June 11.
This contest will be conducted as a competition where participants freely express in English their experiences or practices related to the "Happy together Gimcheon Movement," which emphasizes the three main goals of kindness, order, and cleanliness, as well as reasons why mature civic consciousness is necessary. It is divided into three categories: lower elementary school division, upper elementary school division, and middle/high school division.
Applicants can download the application form from the Gimcheon City Hall website and submit their manuscripts along with audio (or video) recordings. To encourage participation from multiple schools, the number of participants per school is limited by category.
According to Gimcheon City, a first round of non-face-to-face screening will be conducted based on the submitted manuscripts and audio (or video) files, and a face-to-face final competition (scheduled for June 29) will be held for the 30 selected finalists.
Meanwhile, Gimcheon City plans to announce the first-round screening results and details related to the competition on the city hall website and notify individuals separately. A total of 18 final winners will receive certificates and a total prize money of 3 million KRW.
