Still Difficult to Communicate or Move... Under Treatment in ICU
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A female police officer who fell into unconsciousness after surgery due to suspected cerebral hemorrhage following AstraZeneca vaccine administration regained consciousness after three days.
On the 7th, the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency announced that Ms. A, a woman in her 50s, regained consciousness at a large hospital in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, on the 5th.
However, Ms. A is currently only able to move her hands and feet slightly, and communication or movement is difficult, so she is still receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
Earlier, Ms. A received the AZ vaccine at a hospital in Hwaseong City around noon on the 29th of last month and showed symptoms of headache about four hours later.
On the following day, May 1st, around 3 p.m., Ms. A, experiencing severe headache, visited the hospital, underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), was admitted, and was discharged around 7 p.m. the same day.
Subsequently, on the 2nd, Ms. A showed paralysis symptoms in her hands and face, lost consciousness, collapsed, and was urgently transferred to a university hospital.
The medical staff performed two surgeries, suspecting Ms. A had cerebral hemorrhage symptoms.
Ms. A was known to have no special underlying diseases.
Meanwhile, a petitioner claiming to be Ms. A's child posted a message titled "I am the child of a female police officer who is unconscious after AZ vaccine administration" on the Blue House National Petition Board on the 3rd, urging a thorough investigation.
The petitioner stated, "The hospital already said she was in a severe coma state, and blood vessels in the brain had burst, causing the brainstem to swell," and added, "My mother had no chronic illnesses in any part of her body and was healthy without underlying conditions."
He said, "Rather than hastily concluding that there is no causal relationship between the AZ vaccine administration and the cerebral hemorrhage, I am posting this petition with the hope that a thorough investigation will be conducted so that my mother, who was vaccinated first to fulfill her social responsibility as a police officer, will not suffer damage to her honor or injustice."
The police and quarantine authorities are currently investigating the association between Ms. A's abnormal symptoms and the vaccine administration.
