[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] DGB Financial Group announced on the 7th that it experienced the metaverse platform 'Zepeto,' which refers to a three-dimensional virtual space, during a management meeting held on the 6th.
The metaverse is a compound word of 'meta,' meaning processing or abstraction, and 'universe,' meaning the real world.
This experience took place on 'Zepeto,' an avatar-based metaverse platform created by Naver's subsidiary, 'Naver Z.' Using the 'Zepeto Build It Service,' which allows Zepeto users to create and publish maps themselves, a dedicated map for DGB Financial Group was produced.
The map was composed of a virtual conference hall, a photo time area, and a party banquet hall for group executives and employees. After creating their own characters, the management meeting participants held the meeting within the dedicated map.
DGB Financial Group conducted this demonstration to enhance experience levels and lead digital culture as non-face-to-face channels expand due to COVID-19, targeting the MZ generation, the main customer base of the metaverse.
Going forward, it is expected that by utilizing the metaverse platform, limitations of offline and non-face-to-face work processes such as meetings, opening ceremonies, and gatherings can be supplemented, and a virtual world related to the group can be created within the metaverse to brand the corporate image. Additionally, operating a virtual bank within the metaverse is anticipated to serve as a new customer contact channel.
