[Featured Stock] Teuksu Construction, 23 Trillion KRW Project for Gyeongbu Expressway Underground... Spotlight on Underground Infrastructure Construction Expertise

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Tuksu Construction is showing strong performance. The government has revealed for the first time its plan to underground the Seoul Gangnam to Gyeonggi Hwaseong Dongtan section of the Gyeongbu Expressway, a habitual traffic congestion zone, which appears to have influenced the stock price. The total construction cost from the southern end of Hannam Bridge to Dongtan is expected to exceed 23 trillion won.

As of 9:16 AM on the 7th, Tuksu Construction is trading at 11,850 won, up 17.91% from the previous day. Donga Geojil is also expanding its gains.

The government is reviewing a plan to underground the metropolitan area section of the Gyeongbu Expressway, a habitual congestion zone, drawing attention as to whether it will lead to an actual project. According to the government, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is considering reflecting the underground route of the Gyeongbu Expressway in the '2nd Expressway Construction Plan (2021?2025)'.

At the parliamentary confirmation hearing yesterday, Nom Hyungwook, the nominee for Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, "We are reviewing a plan to three-dimensionally expand the section from Dongtan to Gangnam in the 2nd Expressway Construction Plan."

The undergrounding plan for the Hannam IC to Yangjae IC section (6.4 km), led by Seocho-gu, Seoul, involves separating the up and down lanes on the 1st and 2nd basement floors to secure 12 lanes, and creating parks and other facilities on the surface to connect the divided east-west living areas. The three-dimensional construction plan for the metropolitan section of the Gyeongbu Expressway, revealed by Nom Hyungwook, is interpreted as focusing on increasing traffic capacity by adding underground roads while continuing to use the existing surface roads.

Tuksu Construction uses the front jacking method to create new passages and spaces through non-excavation construction of underground railway and road crossing structures. Additionally, it has constructed the Seohae Bridge, Gwang-an Bridge, Incheon Bridge, high-speed rail, Singapore highway underground sections, and subways using advanced construction equipment boasting world-class performance in large-diameter, deep bridge foundation construction with the BG method. It has also constructed the Seocho power cable duct and Han River underwater tunnel using shield tunneling methods and the latest equipment imported from Germany with top-level technology.

Since its founding in 1971, Tuksu Construction has been a leading Korean specialized civil engineering construction company, continuously growing by securing construction achievements with differentiated methods and technologies in the field of complex underground infrastructure construction.
