[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Lee Okwon, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, stated, "The second support payment for visiting and care workers is planned to begin disbursement from the 17th after a swift review."

On the 7th, Vice Minister Lee chaired the Innovation Growth Strategy Review Meeting, Policy Review Meeting, and Korean New Deal Review Meeting at the Government Seoul Office, saying, "We will also expand the employment safety net by establishing the national employment support system and ensuring the smooth introduction of employment insurance for special employment workers (SEWs) in July."

He continued, "We have provided the 4th emergency employment stabilization support fund to 671,000 vulnerable employment groups such as SEWs and freelancers, and the 3rd support fund for taxi drivers was paid to 44,000 people." Additionally, he announced that support for the employment of 33,000 youths had been provided as of the 4th.

Vice Minister Lee said, "Employment is a lagging indicator of the economy and recovers more slowly than other sectors, but it is the indicator that has the greatest impact on people's livelihoods," adding, "We will continue to expand the foundation for job creation by companies through regulatory reform, fostering new industries, and large-scale investment projects."

Regarding the progress of green energy promotion, he emphasized, "We plan to invest 11.3 trillion won by 2025 to expand renewable energy such as solar and wind power and to build hydrogen infrastructure," adding, "We will introduce a REC trading platform within the first half of the year to spread the Korean-style RE100 and promote legislation for a one-stop shop that handles wind power permits in an integrated process."

Vice Minister Lee said, "The government will further spread the momentum of a fast and strong economic recovery to ensure an inclusive recovery that brings warmth to every corner of people's livelihoods."
