[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seung-jin] The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) announced on the 6th that not only workers but also visitors at Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, must undergo testing.
On the evening of the same day, the CDSCH sent an emergency disaster text message across the Seoul metropolitan area, instructing people to "get tested at the nearest public health center screening clinic." The testing targets are those who visited Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market from the 24th of last month to the 4th of this month.
The first confirmed case at Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market was reported on the 30th of last month, and as of 6 p.m. on the 6th, 14 related confirmed cases have been identified in Seoul alone. Initially, tests were conducted on 685 workers on the 1st and 2nd floors, but as confirmed cases continued to emerge, the testing scope was expanded to the entire facility, and a full inspection of 2,688 market workers is currently underway.
People who visited the side dish section of the food hall at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam Branch must also undergo COVID-19 testing. Seocho-gu, Seoul, notified those who visited the location on the 4th or 5th via an emergency disaster text message that they need to get tested for COVID-19.
Seocho-gu initially required testing for those who visited the department store’s food hall from the 29th of last month to the 2nd of this month, but expanded the testing targets after additional confirmed cases were reported.
