Suncheon-si Selects Winning Designs for Symbols of the 61st Jeonnam Sports Festival Next Year

Two Entries Each for Emblem, Mascot, Poster, Slogan, and Motto Selected Through Nationwide Public Contest

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 6th the results of the contest for the symbol of the 61st Jeonnam Sports Festival to be held in Suncheon City in April next year.

The city stated that a selection committee composed of experts from various fields such as athletes and cultural artists conducted preliminary and final screenings to select 10 candidate symbol works (winning works and runners-up) in 5 categories.

The excellent works selected this time will go through a plagiarism and objection period, with the final announcement scheduled for mid-month. Through revisions, application manuals for each use will be developed to actively promote the Jeonnam Sports Festival.

A city official said, "Many citizens participated in this contest, showing great interest in next year's Jeonnam Sports Festival," and added, "We will develop symbols suitable and distinctive for Suncheon City to ensure smooth preparation and promotion, making it a successful sports festival."

Meanwhile, the city announced that from March 17 to April 16, a 30-day nationwide contest for symbols was held, receiving a total of 402 works in 5 categories including emblems and mascots.
