KCC Glass Establishes First Overseas Factory in Indonesia

49ha Glass Factory in Java 'Batang Industrial Complex' to Complete in 2024
Global Market Expansion Begins, "Indonesia Expected to Play a Foothold Role"

KCC Glass Establishes First Overseas Factory in Indonesia

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] KCC Glass, a leading comprehensive glass company in Korea, has established its first overseas glass production plant in Indonesia and has begun to actively target the global market, focusing on the Southeast Asian market.

On the 6th, KCC Glass held a board meeting and approved the establishment of a glass production plant in the Batang industrial complex in Central Java, Indonesia. The planned glass production plant will cover a total area of 490,000㎡ (approximately 148,000 pyeong) and is scheduled to be completed in 2024. Once completed, it will produce about 438,000 tons of architectural flat glass annually.

This establishment of the Indonesian plant is regarded as an important turning point for KCC Glass to leap from a domestic top glass company focused on the domestic market to a global company. In particular, the Southeast Asian construction market has shown high market potential, recording nearly twice the growth rate compared to the global construction market, attracting many domestic companies to enter the local market.

KCC Glass plans to sell the architectural flat glass produced at the Indonesian plant to the Indonesian and Southeast Asian markets, and gradually expand the plant to develop it into a 'comprehensive glass cluster' for overseas market penetration. The Indonesian plant to be established this time is the first overseas production plant built since the founding of KCC Glass last year and is expected to serve as a foothold for KCC Glass's global market expansion.

KCC Glass is scheduled to hold a groundbreaking ceremony on the 20th at the site of the plant establishment in Indonesia. A KCC Glass official said, "Indonesia is a country with a population of 270 million and high growth potential in the construction market due to plans to relocate the capital," adding, "We expect the newly established Indonesian plant to be a cornerstone for global market entry."

Meanwhile, the Batang industrial complex is an integrated industrial complex within the 'Grand Batang City,' a national strategic project promoted by the Indonesian government. It is being developed with the goal of a 'smart and sustainable industrial complex' over a total area of 43 million ㎡ (approximately 13 million pyeong).
