According to Gwangju City on the 6th, as of 8 a.m. that day, 13 people including students at a high school in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, were confirmed positive, classified as Gwangju cases 2454 to 2466.
It is estimated that the cluster infection within the school began when Gwangju case 2451, a first-year student at the high school, was infected by family member Gwangju case 2444 the previous day.
The quarantine authorities conducted COVID-19 tests on the faculty and all students of the high school, and 13 people tested positive.
Among them, it is known that one is a third-year student preparing for the college entrance exam.
The quarantine authorities plan to classify close contacts of the newly confirmed cases and place them under self-quarantine.
Prior to this, index patient Gwangju case 2451 was confirmed positive, and 330 first-year students and 7 faculty members were already subject to self-quarantine.
The quarantine authorities are discussing follow-up measures with the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education.
