Myeonmokbon-dong, Junghwa 1-dong, Myeonmok 3·8-dong Areas Selected... National Funding Support for Living SOC Construction and Infrastructure Maintenance Upon Designation as Management Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Three areas within Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) have been selected as candidate sites for the Small-scale Housing Maintenance Management Area Pilot Project under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public-led 3080+ metropolitan housing supply plan.
The selected candidate sites include the area east of Myeonmok Station in Myeonmokbon-dong (31,558㎡), the area east of Junghung Elementary School in Junghwa 1-dong (92,000㎡), and the area west of Seoildae in Myeonmok 3·8-dong (61,300㎡). These areas have a mix of newly built and aging houses, requiring small-scale maintenance focused on the old housing.
Looking at the three selected candidate sites, the area east of Myeonmok Station in Myeonmokbon-dong requires residential environment improvement due to poor infrastructure and insufficient living SOC. The area east of Junghung Elementary School in Junghwa 1-dong needs a planned housing maintenance strategy due to aging low-rise houses.
In the future, through road maintenance of school routes near educational facilities (two elementary schools and two middle schools), it is expected to create not only a pleasant residential environment but also a safe commuting environment for students.
Additionally, the area west of Seoildae in Myeonmok 3·8-dong has single-family, row, and multi-family houses that are over 20 years old, necessitating a management plan to enable small-scale maintenance of the aging residential area.
If these areas are designated as management areas, they can receive up to 15 billion KRW in national funding to newly install or improve the previously insufficient maintenance infrastructure. This will also encourage various private small-scale housing maintenance projects, leading to planned development and enhanced urban value.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, "The selection of candidate sites for the Small-scale Housing Maintenance Management Area Pilot Project will be an important opportunity to secure the living SOC that residents need and to improve poor infrastructure. We will maintain continuous interest and make relentless efforts to activate small-scale housing maintenance projects so that the aging low-rise residential areas in the region can systematically develop."
For the selected candidate sites, small-scale housing maintenance plans and infrastructure installation will be discussed, and a small-scale housing maintenance management plan is expected to be prepared by October.
